What We Do?

SKAVNS is dedicated to creating a thriving rural landscape where communities are empowered and self-sufficient. The detailed look at some of our key initiatives:

Revitalizing Organic Farming:

We promote sustainable agriculture by reviving organic farming practices. This includes providing training on composting techniques and establishing model farms that showcase the benefits of organic methods.

Empowering Rural Adults:

Recognizing the importance of literacy for rural development, we offer adult literacy programs specifically designed for agriculture-based communities. This equips them with the knowledge and skills to navigate the agricultural sector more effectively.

Protecting Child Rights:

Child protection is paramount to SKAVNS. We work towards the restoration of child rights and raise awareness about the dangers of child labor. Our initiatives aim to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children.

Reintegrating Dropouts:

We understand the importance of education. To bridge the gap for rural children who have dropped out of school, we offer bridge courses that help them reintegrate back into the formal education system.

Skilling Youth for the Future:

We empower young women by providing initial training in essential rural skills like tailoring, driving, and computer literacy. This equips them with the tools they need to secure livelihoods and build a brighter future.

Women and Weaker Section Empowerment:

SKAVNS strongly believes in women's empowerment and the upliftment of weaker sections of society. We achieve this by reinforcing existing self-help groups (SHGs) – a network of 2000 groups – providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive.

Financial Inclusion:

Financial independence is crucial for sustainable development. We facilitate lending to 400 SHGs through ICICI Bank, promoting financial inclusion and economic empowerment for women and marginalized communities.

Micro-Credit and Banking Linkage:

SKAVNS recognizes the transformative power of micro-credit. We work towards reuniting micro-credit initiatives with linkage support programs, creating a bridge between rural underprivileged communities and nationalized banks. This allows them to access essential financial services.

Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation:

In times of crisis, SKAVNS is there to support communities. During the tsunami, we played a vital role in relief and rehabilitation efforts, helping people rebuild their lives.

Naturopathy for All:

We operate a Naturopathy Hospital that provides natural and holistic treatment options to the community. Additionally, we organize Naturopathy camps to raise awareness about preventive healthcare and natural healing methods.

Preserving Traditional Knowledge:

SKAVNS recognizes the value of traditional medicine systems. We established a Siddha Research and Treatment Center dedicated to preserving and promoting this ancient Indian system of medicine.

Self-Help Groups:

As mentioned earlier, SKAVNS has established a network of 2000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs). These groups not only promote financial inclusion but also serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and community support.

Disaster Response and Relief:

SKAVNS understands the importance of preparedness and swift action during disasters. In the wake of the Tsunami, we provided immediate relief and support to 1500 families across 5 villages. This included distributing relief kits worth Rs. 2,50,000 and constructing homes for affected families.

Building Resilience:

We actively promote disaster preparedness activities in communities. Additionally, we take concrete steps to support communities during crises. For instance, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SKAVNS distributed relief kits worth Rs. 3,00,000 to 1000 families across 5 villages in May 2020.

Children's Parliament

We strongly believe that Children's Parliament will help children develop leadership and learn Indian constitutional rights at an early age. Therefore, this year, one of our field works will be the work of setting up a children's parliament
