Samuka Kalvi Valarchi Nala Sangam (SKAVNS) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered under the Societies Registration Act, Indian Income Tax Act, and the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The organisation is based in the district of Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, India, SKAVNS has been working for the welfare and development of underprivileged communities for the past three decades.
Since its inception in 1988, SKAVNS has focused on empowering socially and economically disadvantaged groups, including poor women, children, farmers, senior citizens, and girls. The organization's activities address education rights, women's empowerment, sustainable agriculture, organic farming, environmental protection, youth development, and sustainable livelihoods.
Dr. Ravindren, the founder of SKAVNS, is a dedicated advocate for the rural poor. He has established a blend of short-term and long-term goals and activities designed to bring about economic and social empowerment for the underprivileged in the target area.
And also Its working for the socio, economic and educational suppressed, depressed and downtrodden dalit community in India for the past 33 years. The organisation has been focussing on the mainstreaming of dalit community by organising them into self help group and working for their empowerment. Apart from Empowerment of Dalit community, SKAVNS has been working in the field of sustainable agriculture and organic farming among the agriculturists. Interventions for the rights of children, abolition of child labour are other sectors in which SKAVNS has been very closely involved. Of late, SKAVNS started working for the single women headed dalit families; the livelihood programme has brought tremendous changes in the lives of the poor women and brought a source of livelihood for them.
OUR VISION: At SKAVNS, we envision a society where individuals live in peace and practice good citizenship. This includes fostering spiritual well-being, environmental justice, and upholding core values like freedom, equity, and integrity. We believe such a society is inherently strong, with power and resources distributed fairly. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of cherishing and preserving our divine culture while living in harmony with nature.
